City & Guilds

This page contains resources for Optometrists taking the various modules of the City and Guilds Certificate in Retinal Screening.

Graders need to pass modules 001 to 008 inclusive.   Optometrists registered with the GOC are automatically exempt from modules 003, 004 and 005, so there are 5 actual modules that optometrists need to complete as graders.

You must complete Units 7 and 8 within 6 months of commencing grading, followed by Unit 6 and finally Units 1 and 2. You have 2 years overall from commencing grading, which soon passes.

Instructions for how to submit the Modules are available to download from the list on the right of this page. In brief, Modules need to be submitted along with the appropriate work plan (download from list on the right) to an assessor by e-mail. Documents should be in Word  format. Once  your assessor  has checked the module, they will return it to you by e-mail either for corrections (with explanation of the problem) or as completed along with an amended work plan.

Details of how to contact assessors and the C&G address for final submission are in the document on submitting units to C&G

Note that from 1st April 2011 C&G have a new address of:
